The Summer Initiative

We are a group of friends who asked one question. What becomes possible when ordinary people decide to act as one?

So we set a goal that felt impossible, to prove that it was possible. Raise $1,000 in a single day for one local family. Enough for a full week of groceries, a warm dinner, and a little extra to ease the weight of a hard season.

The family at the heart of it

Meet Pinky.

Rafaela, who everyone calls Pinky, is the family at the heart of our kickoff. She has a family of six and a cat named Toby. When Hurricane Helene swept through, the flood destroyed their entire trailer and nearly everything they owned.

We stood for Pinky and her family, and for the community that rises when we show up for one another.

We are documenting the whole journey and sharing every step on social media. When you give, and when you share, you become part of the story. One family at a time, we are building something that lasts.

Keep the momentum going

Pinky's family was the beginning, not the end. JoySol donations are now received by our nonprofit partner, the WNC Food Coalition, so every gift is accounted for and put straight to work at Asheville bus stops.
